Pussy-cat, pussy cat where had you been?

Priyanka Shukla is a resident of Raipur in India and the founder of a charity called SOWO. She has long been a supporter of Indian Ladies UK. She regularly contributes her articles, poetrys  that are enjoyed by our Indian Ladies living far away from their motherland India. This time Priyanka has decided to pay a tribute to London in her own unique way.

pussy-cat, pussy cat where had  you been?

i had been to London to visit the queen..

First i went to Buckingham and no on was there

i looked for a mouse that i thought was under the chair.

Sadly no queen and also no mouse,

so I decided to move out of the royal house.

i moved out and sat for some english breakfast tea,

Next was the “London eye’ i wanted to see.

Round and round it went, i held my stomach tight,

i chuckled to myself, feeling proud in that height.

I went to the big ben,so big was the clock

how would my little mouse climb it ,sadly i thought

the clock struck one,and it was time for my lunch

i went to the cake shop and bought something to munch!

the famous telephone  booth, which was painted bright red,

I called up my family to tell them how i felt!

i wore my little hat and walked on the streets,

bond ,oxford ,regent, it definitely was a treat…

i walked around until something special made me stop,

it was the ‘hello kitty’ showroom that got my jaw drop.

i think i was shy, so cute was the kitty,

every little girl was coming out  with that beauty.

i wandered on london bridge that was spanning river thames,

i saw some  fellow cats there, playing different games!!

how warmly they welcomed and asked me my name.

‘Mr.Tom’ i said and that from india i came..

they took me to their place which was close to the bridge,

offered me some brandy, as the temperature hit six.

it was raining outside ,and they asked  me to stay,

i slept snoring hard, as i had, had a long day

next morning i thanked them and took a bus tour,

and visited tower of london,to see the kohi-noor

i was dazed with wide eyes, looking at the gems…

reminded me of my lovely wife ,who wanted all of them!!

I had heard of harrods and took a cab for that,

my eyes went wide ,when i saw the price tags!!

amongst all the brands, there came one  “miu miu”

i chuckled and cried  “me-ow”, something very well i knew..

i bought a small key chain to show it to my wife,

she would chuckle too, seeing miu miu  written on its side!!!

Trafalgar square looked terrific with so many flying pigeons,

the most awaited  sight that i had seen only in indian television

i wanted to get inside the BBC office too,

and see the working of one of the biggest channel news…

finally the last day ‘kensington palace’ was the place i wished to see

the palace had many guards and also massive trees..

so slyly i entered “no one saw me” ,I thought

so great was the security that a tiny tom like me got caught

i was taken to the queen and she glared at me,

i settled my glasses and bent on my knee.

her highness was there, looking straight into my eyes,

“hello” i stammered and gave her a nervous smile.

she offered me a cake , which came from royal kitchen

as soon as i took it , i happened to jump from my position,

she asked me the matter but i took her permission to leave,

something that had happened made me difficult to believe..

i was very happy that day,my dream had come true..

i packed my bags and left for airport soon….

so now if you ask me— where had i been?

i had been to london to visit the queen

and when you ask me what did i do there…

i did a lot of things but the last was the best when i did frighten a mouse under her chair..
